Passenger Vehicles

Modern vehicles contain a number of electronic modules, some of which can record data in the event of a crash. For example: airbag modules, powertrain control modules, and roll-over sensors, may record data which can later be retrieved and used to reconstruct the collision. The data can often be retrieved directly through the vehicle’s onboard diagnostic system. Alternatively, the module containing the event data can be removed from the vehicle and preserved, allowing the data to be downloaded at a future date.
